![]() ![]() Talking about, alternate skins, do you know how they will work? I mean do we could have both (for example) Triceratops species «skins» at the same moment, or we have to choose between them, at the start of the game? And, if we could, do they will be separate species? As they already planned alternate skins for many of their animals, our wish could come true. The mounted fossil of Giraffatitan can be found in the Natural History Museum of Berlin. This species is a bit more slenderly build than the North American species, and when most people think of Brachiosaurus they almost always have this species in mind (as it was originaly called Brachiosaurus brancai in the past, but now it's considered a seperate sister species). Originally posted by Nederbeest:Speaking of Brachiosaurs, I wonder if we will see the African species Giraffatitan brancai as some kind of alternate skin for Brachiosaurus altithorax in the future. It's best defense was it's size.īut why they (I mean sauropods) don't loose them earlier, as the group appear in the Triassic, and the Brachiosauridae sub-family, who lived at the late Jurassic, still have one (which represent a way more time compared to ours (relatively new) specie/clade)? Do they (the Brachiosauridae) have it for a longer time compared to the others sub-family, as a distinctive feature? Some people thought it was for defense in past, however that seems a bit unlikely as Brachiosaurus could not rear up like Diplodocus could, as it was too front heavy (that iconic scene in the first JP movie could not happen in real life). With enought time we humans will lose our little toes as we don't need it to walk, so it grows smaller and smaller with each generation until it will disapear completely. It's the same reason why some animals lose fingers or toes. Later sauropods lost them completely and don't even have any type of claws on their frontlimbs anymore. Simple answer, they didn't need them (the claws on the hands of Jurassic sauropods like Brachiosaurus are mostly vestigal). The frontlimbs do have pillar-like metacarpals and phalanges (in a horse-shoe shape), but it's hidden by a soft fleshy cushion. On a side-note: Why the front feets of Brachiosaurus have only one toe? I mean, what the advantage to only have one?įrontlimbs don't have any toes, you don't call your own fingers toes do now do you :P Originally posted by SkaarSmashKikou:Nice job, :D
